Calculate the amount of material that you will need by using these
recommendations for proper depth.
Compost/Mulch/Bark
3 - 4 inches for new beds.
2 - 3 inches for existing beds.
Topdressing Lawns
1/2 - 1 inch of compost or topsoil.
Soil Amendment
3-6 inches of compost for existing beds.
TerraseedingTM
2 inches for seed injected topsoil or compost.
Playchips
For playgrounds, depth should = 1" per 1' fall impaction.
